Most 42U rack cabinets arrive as a pallet of steel panels and a bag of bolts, costing you half a day of labour before a single switch gets mounted. The Ubiquiti UACC-Rack-42U ships fully assembled — roll it off the pallet, level the stands, and start racking equipment.
Behind the tempered glass front door sits 42U of standard 19" EIA/ECA-310-E mounting space, rated to a 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) static load. Two pre-installed fan modules with a thermal sensor switch handle heat automatically, while a perforated rear door and removable side panels keep front-to-back airflow clean under load.
Built from SPCC steel with a white powder-coated finish, it's designed to look at home in a modern comms room, an AV closet, or a small on-prem data hall — and it's NDAA compliant for federal and government procurement.
Key Features:
- Ships fully assembled — no on-site frame build, no assembly labour, no missing hardware.
- 42U of usable rack space in a 4-post enclosed cabinet with square mounting holes.
- 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) static load capacity, 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) while rolling.
- Dual pre-installed fan modules with a thermal sensor switch that kicks in above 35°C (95°F).
- Tempered glass front door and perforated rear door — both reversible, both lockable.
- Adjustable mounting depth from 138 mm to 838 mm (5.4"–33") for shallow switches or deep server chassis.
- Lockable casters plus levelling stands — reposition it, then lock it down.
- Top and bottom cable entry openings (320 x 55 mm each) with integrated grounding lugs.
- NDAA compliant; certified to CE, EIA/ECA-310-E and RoHS.
Why the UACC-Rack-42U
Assembled at the factory, not in your comms room
A flat-packed 42U enclosure typically takes two people the better part of a morning to square up and true. This one arrives built. The rack itself weighs 164 kg (361 lb) and ships at 209 kg (460 lb) on the pallet, so plan for door-to-door kerbside delivery and a clear path — but once it's in position, deployment starts immediately.
Cooling that manages itself
Two fan modules come pre-installed in the roof. Press the thermal sensor switch down to turn the sensor ON and the fans spin up automatically once internal cabinet temperature passes 35°C (95°F) — useful for closets without dedicated HVAC. Leave the switch popped up and the sensor is OFF, so the fans run continuously whenever the power cable is connected, for high-density builds that need constant extraction. Combined with the perforated rear door, that gives you a proper front-to-back airflow path instead of trapped heat.
Depth that fits what you actually own
Mounting depth adjusts from a 658 mm (25.9") default out to 838 mm (33"), or in as far as 138 mm (5.4"). That range covers everything from a 1U UniFi switch or patch panel to a full-depth server or NVR chassis — without shimming, spacers or custom brackets.
Access from every side
The tempered glass front door and perforated rear door are both reversible (left-hand outswing by default), so the cabinet suits your floor plan rather than dictating it. Both side panels are solid and fully removable for cabling runs and rear-of-rack work. Front and rear locks come keyed with three keys included.
Built to be moved once and stay put
Lockable casters let one person walk the cabinet into position; leveling stands then take the weight off the wheels for a stable, permanent install. Grounding lugs are provided for proper bonding, and cable entry openings top and bottom keep power and data separated on the way in.
What It's Good For
- On-premise server rooms consolidating switching, storage and compute in one secure enclosure
- UniFi network deployments housing Cloud Gateways, switches, NVRs and patch panels behind one lockable door
- AV and broadcast racks where the glass front door keeps status LEDs visible without opening the cabinet
- Education, healthcare and government sites needing NDAA-compliant infrastructure
- MSP and integrator projects where fully assembled delivery cuts billable install hours

Frequently Asked Questions
Does the UACC-Rack-42U come assembled?
Yes. It ships fully assembled with the fan modules, casters, doors and side panels already installed. Because of its size and weight, delivery is door-to-door only and won't be brought inside — and some residential addresses may not be serviceable.
What are the external dimensions of the 42U rack cabinet?
600 mm wide x 1,000 mm deep x 2,135 mm tall with casters fitted (23.6 x 39.8 x 84"), or 2,000 mm tall (78.7") without.
How much weight can it hold?
1,500 kg (3,307 lb) static, and 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) while being rolled on its casters.
Will it fit deep server chassis?
Yes. Mounting depth adjusts out to 838 mm (33"), with a 658 mm (25.9") default and a 138 mm (5.4") minimum for shallow equipment.
How do the built-in fans work?
Two fan modules are pre-installed. With the thermal sensor switch on, they start automatically once the cabinet exceeds 35°C (95°F). With it off, they run continuously while the power cable is connected.
Is it compatible with non-Ubiquiti equipment?
Yes. It uses standard 19" EIA/ECA-310-E square-hole mounting, so any standard rack-mount hardware fits — Ubiquiti UniFi gear, third-party servers, switches, UPS units and patch panels alike.
Can the doors be reversed?
Both the front and rear doors ship as left-hand outswing and are reversible to suit your room layout.
Is it NDAA compliant?
Yes, and it's also certified to CE, EIA/ECA-310-E and RoHS.
