The Ubiquiti USL-FOB is a pocket-sized SuperLink key fob that puts your entire UniFi security system on a keyring. Arm, disarm, switch to night mode or trigger a panic alert instantly — no phone, no app, no keypad. With up to 2 km of SuperLink range and a battery rated for up to 10 years, it's built to be carried and forgotten about until the moment you need it.

Key features

  • One-touch security control — dedicated Arm, Disarm, Night Mode and Panic buttons on the primary faceplate.
  • Six programmable inputs — four top buttons plus two side buttons, each mappable to custom UniFi Protect actions.
  • Swappable numeric faceplate — a secondary 1–2–3–4 faceplate lets you assign the fob to non-alarm automations.
  • Up to 2 km SuperLink range — long-range proprietary wireless that reaches across large sites, not just single rooms.
  • Up to 10 years of battery life — a single CR2450 lithium cell, no charging cradle, no weekly top-ups.
  • Dual-LED feedback — separate status and signal LEDs confirm the command landed.
  • NDAA compliant — approved for US federally funded projects.
  • UL 4200A certified — meets the button-battery safety standard, an important consideration in homes and schools.
  • 32 g and 67 mm long — genuinely keyring-sized at 2.6 x 1.4 x 0.7".

Instant control without reaching for your phone

App-based security is excellent right up until you're carrying groceries, wearing gloves, or walking a dark car park. The USL-FOB solves the last three metres of the problem. Four clearly-marked buttons sit under your thumb: Arm when you leave, Disarm when you return, Night Mode when the household turns in, and a dedicated Panic button that fires an alert across your UniFi Protect deployment immediately.

Two status LEDs confirm what happened. The status LED (red/blue/white) reports the action, while the signal LED (blue/red) tells you whether the fob reached the gateway — so you're never left guessing whether the system actually armed as you walk away.

SuperLink range that covers the whole property

The USL-FOB communicates over SuperLink, Ubiquiti's proprietary long-range protocol, rather than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. That's the difference between a fob that works near the front door and one that works from the far end of a warehouse, a back paddock, or a multi-building campus.

Line-of-sight range reaches up to 2 km (1.2 mi) with 14 dBm maximum transmit power. In practical terms: you can arm the building from your car before you've left the site, or trigger a panic alert from a loading dock the far side of the property.

Region: US | Operating frequency: 915.6–927.6 MHz

A decade of battery life, then a coin cell

The fob runs on a single CR2450 lithium coin cell (600 mAh, 3V) rated for up to 10 years of service. Maximum draw is 150 mW with a 50 mA pulse ceiling, so the fob spends almost all of its life asleep.

Because coin cells carry a genuine ingestion risk for small children, Ubiquiti has certified the USL-FOB to UL 4200A — the safety standard covering battery-compartment security on consumer products. If this fob is going into a family home or a school, that certification matters.

Programmable beyond the alarm panel

The four top buttons and two side buttons can each be assigned to programmable actions in UniFi Protect. Swap the primary faceplate for the included numeric faceplate (1, 2, 3, 4) and the fob stops looking like an alarm remote entirely — useful when you want to hand a contractor a gate-and-lights fob without implying they can disarm the building.

Typical assignments:

  • Open a specific gate or roller door
  • Trigger a UniFi Protect siren or AI Speaker announcement
  • Fire a Relay-driven output
  • Run a scene across multiple UniFi devices
  • Silent duress alert for retail and reception staff

Built for real deployments

The polycarbonate enclosure weighs 32 g and measures 67 x 35 x 18.5 mm — small enough that people will actually carry it. It's rated for 0 to 40° C and 10 to 90% non-condensing humidity, which suits indoor and sheltered outdoor use.

For installers, the appeal is fleet-level: cheap enough to issue one per staff member, long-lived enough that you're not scheduling battery-swap visits, and centrally managed from UniFi Protect alongside every sensor and camera on site.

Compatibility and requirements

Important: The USL-FOB is not a standalone device. It requires both of the following.

Requirement Detail
SuperLink Gateway Required — the fob communicates via SuperLink only
UniFi Protect Version 7.1 or later
Management UniFi Protect web app, or the UniFi Protect app for iOS and Android

Pairs naturally with the rest of the UniFi Sensors & Alarms range: Entry Sensor, Motion Sensor, Glass Break Sensor, Alarm Hub, Sirens, Relay and the AI Speaker.
