The UniFi Retrofit PSU 12V is a purpose-built AC-to-DC power supply for the UniFi Retrofit Hub. It converts standard 100–240V AC mains into a clean 12V DC, 5A supply and adds a dedicated terminal for an optional 12V SLA backup battery — so your retrofitted doors keep authenticating, unlocking and logging when building power drops. Three status LEDs give you at-a-glance confirmation of mains, output and battery state, and a compact 127 x 76 mm footprint keeps it tidy inside the enclosure or wiring closet alongside your DIN-rail hub.
Key Benefits
Doors keep working when the power doesn't
Wire a 12V SLA battery to the dedicated battery terminal and the PSU charges it continuously at 0.5A, then hands over automatically during an outage. Access control is only as reliable as its power source — this keeps your Retrofit Hub, readers and locks online through the interruption instead of leaving a door in an unknown state.
Engineered specifically for the Retrofit Hub
This isn't a generic 12V brick. The output rating, the dedicated DC output terminal and the battery circuit are all matched to the UniFi Retrofit Hub, which removes the guesswork around headroom, connector types and charge current. One less compatibility question on a retrofit job where the rest of the site is already legacy.
Headroom for the full door load
A 12V DC, 5A output with 80W maximum power consumption and 85% efficiency leaves margin for the hub plus its connected locks and peripherals — so you're not running a supply at its ceiling from day one.
Diagnose without a multimeter
Three status LEDs report power and battery condition directly on the unit. Installers and facilities staff can confirm mains input, DC output and backup battery health during commissioning or a callout without pulling covers or probing terminals.
Cleared for regulated and government projects
NDAA compliant and certified to CE, FCC and IC — the paperwork requirement that quietly disqualifies a lot of cheaper third-party supplies on public sector, education and federally funded installs.
Sized for the space you actually have
At 127 x 76 x 35 mm (5 x 3 x 1.4") and 350 g, it fits neatly into existing enclosures and closets where a retrofit typically has to live — beside legacy panels and conduit rather than in a purpose-built rack.
Built For
- Retrofit access control upgrades — modernising legacy Wiegand or OSDP door systems onto UniFi Access without replacing wiring.
- Multi-tenant and commercial buildings — where doors must stay controlled during a power event.
- Government, education and healthcare — where NDAA compliance is a procurement requirement.
- Integrators standardising a bill of materials — a known-good PSU spec that ships with every Retrofit Hub deployment.
Works With
- UniFi Retrofit Hub (UA-Retrofit-Hub-2) — the primary intended load; the hub accepts 12/24V DC and is explicitly compatible with this PSU.
- UniFi Retrofit Reader (UA-Retrofit-Reader) and third-party Wiegand/OSDP readers connected to the hub.
- 12V SLA backup battery — optional, connected to the dedicated battery terminal.
- Managed end-to-end through the UniFi Access application on your UniFi OS console.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Retrofit PSU 12V work without a backup battery?
Yes. The Retrofit PSU 12V can work without a backup battery, but only as a DC power supply—backup and charging functions will be disabled.
How does the SLA backup battery interface work?
When AC power is available, the Retrofit PSU 12V powers the device and charges the SLA battery. If AC power is lost, the SLA battery automatically switches to supply DC output, keeping the system running.
What type of SLA battery is supported?
The Retrofit PSU 12V supports 12V sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries.
Does the Retrofit PSU 12V protect the battery from overcharging?
Yes. The Retrofit PSU 12V charging circuit includes built-in overcharge protection to keep the battery safe and extend its lifespan.
