Network 11: what you gain/lose & how to upgrade
Network 11 is a big upgrade: Ubiquiti released 11.0.83 on 12 October 2026 and 11.0.94 on 21 October. It needs UniFi OS 6, which isn't available for every console yet. Upgrade when you're ready to lose your statistics history and move to the zone-based firewall. USG owners can't upgrade at all.
What you gain
| Feature | What it does | See |
|---|---|---|
| Live Flows | Shows every connection through the gateway in real time | Live Flows guide |
| Time Machine Topology | Rewinds the network map to show past changes | Live Flows guide |
| External Network Lists | Blocklists and route lists that update themselves from a URL | External Network Lists guide |
| WiFi Uplink | Uses a phone hotspot or other Wi-Fi as a WAN on the UDR7, UDR-5G-Max, Express 7 and UCG-Industrial | Backup internet guide |
| Matter and Thread monitoring | Shows smart-home devices with battery, firmware and signal | Matter and Thread guide |
| New-client alarm | Alerts you when an unknown device joins | New-device alerts guide |
| SD-WAN Policies | Failover and app routing across several sites (needs Site Manager 5.10.2+) | — |
| Bigger limits | Over 30% better scalability from a rebuilt telemetry engine | — |
It also adds more VLANs, bulk client editing, a UPS self-test and IPIP WAN support.
What you lose or change
- USG support ends. Network 10.6 (10.6.106) is the last version for the USG; Ubiquiti lists the USG, USG-Pro and USG-XG-8 as Legacy.
- The legacy self-hosted Network Application Server stops at 10.6. Self-hosters move to UniFi OS Server (see below).
- Statistics history is wiped. The new statistics engine starts fresh, so expect empty dashboards and client graphs.
- Every site moves to the zone-based firewall. The migration can create many duplicate policies, so review them afterwards.
- Some settings move. Opened through Site Manager, the console loses System Settings (the local portal keeps them). Country moves to the Wi-Fi Channel Plan, NTP to the gateway's side panel, and the Professional Installer section disappears.
- No documented downgrade. One UDM-SE owner rolled back from an early 11.0 build after routing failures, but the method wasn't published.
Can your console run it?
Network 11 needs UniFi OS 6.0 or later. Live Flows, External Network Lists, WiFi Uplink and Matter need UniFi OS 6.0.10 or later.
- Published UniFi OS 6 builds (October 2026): Cloud Keys, NVRs and NAS units have UniFi OS 6.0.11. The Cloud Key build ships with Network 10.6.106; Network 11 is a separate update.
- Not yet on UniFi OS 6: UniFi OS Server's newest release, 5.1.42 (September 2026), is still UniFi OS 5, so it can't run Network 11.
- Everything else: check your console's Updates page (Settings › Control Plane › Updates) to see whether UniFi OS 6 has been offered.
Upgrade safely
- Check your console can run it (see above), and that your gateway isn't a USG.
- Turn off auto-update for UniFi OS and Network so nothing jumps ahead of you. One Early Access user was moved to an early 11.0 build automatically and had to roll back.
- Download a backup to another computer. Go to Settings › Control Plane › Backups.
- Screenshot what you'd hate to rebuild: firewall rules, port forwards, VPN settings, and any statistics you want to keep.
- Choose your channel. If UniFi OS 6 or Network 11 isn't offered on the Official channel yet, wait, or opt in to Early Access: at account.ui.com › Account Information › Preferences, in the Site Manager profile menu, and as the release channel on the console's Updates page.
- Update UniFi OS first, then Network. Install UniFi OS 6.0.10 or later, then Network 11. Use the Updates page, or Site Manager's Update Manager for several sites.
- Allow 20 minutes in a quiet window. The upgrade moves the database to PostgreSQL, which can take up to 20 minutes.
- Switch back afterwards. Once Network 11 reaches the Official channel, return to Official and turn auto-update back on.
Check it worked
- Your console's Updates page shows Network 11.
- Every device shows Online. If one doesn't come back, power-cycle it or re-adopt it (our setup guide shows how).
- Review the migrated firewall policies for duplicates, then test traffic between VLANs (see our VLAN guide), port forwards and VPNs.
If you have a USG
Ubiquiti lists the USG, USG-Pro and USG-XG-8 as Legacy products, which have stopped receiving updates, and UniFi Network 10.6 is the final release compatible with them. You have three options:
| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| Stay on Network 10.6 | Everything keeps working, but the USG gets no further updates and you miss Network 11's features. |
| Replace it with a Cloud Gateway | The gateway runs the Network app itself, so no separate controller is needed: for example a UCG Ultra, UCG Max, UCG Fiber, UDR7 or UDM Pro. The Express 7 has no Network 11 build yet. |
| Replace it with a UXG gateway | Keeps your self-hosted controller or Cloud Key: for example a UXG-Lite or UXG-Max. |
Moving from a self-hosted controller with a USG to a Cloud Gateway (Ubiquiti's documented procedure):
- On the old controller, download a .unf backup from Settings › System › Backups. Also copy the device SSH login from Devices › Device Updates & Settings › Device SSH Settings.
- Swap the hardware. Power off the USG, then connect your NBN connection box or modem to the new gateway's WAN port and your main switch to one of its LAN ports. Leave the old controller running.
- Set up the new gateway and update it.
- Once it's updated, restore the .unf at Settings › Control Plane › Backups.
- Wait for your switches and APs to come online, then Forget them on the old controller.
- If a device shows "Managed by Another Console", use Override Inform Host on the old controller, or factory reset and re-adopt it.
What doesn't carry over: statistics, which Network 11 starts fresh anyway, and any custom USG settings made outside the UI with a config.gateway.json file. Recreate those settings in the UI, then check port forwards, firewall rules and VPNs.
If you self-host the Network app
The legacy Network Application Server stops at 10.6; its replacement is UniFi OS Server.
- Runs on: Ubuntu 24.04+ or Debian 13+ (with Podman 4.9.3+), Windows 10+ or Server 2022 through WSL2, or macOS 13.1+. It needs an x86-64 machine with 2 GB RAM and 10 GB disk.
- Migration: the Windows and macOS installers offer to migrate automatically; on Linux, use Site Export and Import.
- Captive portal: it moves from port 8843 to 8444.
- Limits: UniFi OS Server can't manage Cloud Gateways, so pair it with a UXG. Its newest release (5.1.42, September 2026) is still UniFi OS 5, so it can't run Network 11 yet; migrate only once it supports your current Network version.
