Cameras watch. They don't intervene. The UniFi AI Speaker closes that gap — an indoor, PoE-powered speaker that turns a Protect AI detection into something a person in the room can actually hear, within seconds of it happening.

It's a fabric-fronted, 3-inch full-range speaker that joins your UniFi Protect system as a managed device, not a bolt-on PA. One Ethernet run from a PoE++ switch carries both power and network. There's no amplifier to rack, no speaker wire to pull, and no second platform to maintain.

100 dB, tuned for words rather than bass

The single 3-inch full-range driver reaches a maximum SPL of 100 dB at 1 metre, with a frequency response of 150 Hz to 20 kHz (±5 dB) and 90° axisymmetric dispersion. That response curve is a deliberate choice: it privileges the vocal band, so an announcement stays intelligible across a warehouse aisle or a retail floor instead of turning to mush. Mono output, 4-ohm nominal impedance, 87 dB sensitivity at 1 W/1 m.

One cable does everything

The AI Speaker draws PoE++, up to 33 W, through a single 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port. Worth planning for: 33 W is a real bite out of a switch's PoE budget, so check headroom on your UniFi switch before you commit a port — particularly if you're running several speakers alongside cameras and access points on the same chassis.

Two ways to mount it

Surface mounting is the default and everything you need ships in the box. If you'd rather the hardware disappeared into the wall or ceiling, the optional Flush Mount accessory recesses it into an 84.7 mm cutout — the tidier option for reception areas, boutique retail, and anywhere the ceiling plane is part of the design. The enclosure is polycarbonate with a metal mounting plate, and the whole unit weighs 1.6 kg.

Where it earns its place

• Retail and hospitality — opening and closing announcements, queue management, staff pages
• Warehouses and workshops — safety callouts and dock instructions on the same network as the cameras

AI Speaker or AI Horn Speaker?

Both do AI-triggered audio. They're built for different rooms.

Short version: the Horn is for shouting across a car park; the AI Speaker is for being clearly understood inside a building without deafening anyone standing under it.

• A UniFi Protect console (Cloud Key, UNVR, or a Protect-capable Cloud Gateway)
• A PoE++ port with at least 33 W available, or a PoE++ injector
• Cat5e or better back to the switch
• UniFi Protect cameras with AI detection, if you want detections to trigger audio automatically

The AI Speaker is NDAA compliant and certified to FCC, IC, and CE — relevant if you're specifying for government, education, or enterprise tenders with procurement restrictions.
