How long does the battery last on the Entry Sensor?
Battery life primarily depends on the number of open/close events per day. When averaging 10 open/close events per day, the sensor lasts up to 5 years, and with less frequent reporting it can extend up to 6 years. Actual battery life may be shorter in cold temperatures or if the sensor has a higher frequency of events.
How close does the magnet need to be to the Entry Sensor?
The Entry Sensor can detect the magnet at a distance of up to 30 mm. To prevent contact or damage when the door or window opens and closes, ensure the magnet is positioned at least 5 mm away from the sensor at all times.
What does the function button on the Entry Sensor do?
Since the sensor normally operates in a low-power sleep mode, pressing the button temporarily wakes it up and forces it to synchronise with the SuperLink Gateway. When pressed, the sensor is also highlighted in the devices page of UniFi Protect, making it easy to identify the device.
Can the battery be replaced when it runs out?
Yes, the sensor uses a CR123A battery.
